File between January 2nd and April 1st at your county tax assessor's office. Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria, including owning and residing in the property by January 1st.

-Social Security Number(s)

No! Homestead Exemption does not need to be filed every year. You file once on your new property and only need to file again if one of these events occur:

- If you purchase a new home

- If you become disabled

- If you reach the age of 65 

- If your marital status changes

- Spouse deceased in prior year

- 100% service connected disabled veteran

- Or if there are any changes to your warranty deed.
